    • RE: [Game] The last who replies wins

Huh, I forgot I had this in the backlog for months now.

Audi_t When change causes the forums to become a barren wasteland, something wrong has been done.

      No, seriously, think about it.

Most of the new user activity in the forums is nearly restricted to:

      • The poorly formatted weapon request that fades off after a week at most.
      • Frequent moderation appeals.

Don't get me wrong, there will be those one-off posts that are truly unique and useful (take Darkman's contributions for instance), but those are rarer than rare. Moreover, even these users frequently fade into obscurity.

When an entire group of people feels alienated to the extent that they either do not want to return and create worthwhile content, or are fearful of what happens next, what has come of the "change" that you so praise?

      takeusername , saladguy , Torush1 , B_olts , SilverKnite, Q_71 etc...

While life manners may account for quite a few of them (Torush specifically), where are the rest?
A good majority of these members, however, still lurk around on other mediums, like Discord and Steam.
They are actively avoiding this place.

      Why?

Because the environment here is beyond oppressive.

And before you say that these members were part of the toxicity that plagued the old forums and are a menace to the new forums, they aren't.

Each one of them have spotless records on the old-forums, having no reason to fear the very same policies that are only now being enforced.

Those who have tried compromise are ignored. Those who act out are banned.
The only people who aren't banned are the subservient and the fearful.

If you still wish to disregard each and every original user who have either left or remain in the shadows as bigots and bull-heads, then be my guest.
Yet there is one glaring issue that still prevails here.

If a safe environment has truly been created not only for new users, but for developers to communicate with the community, then where are they?

Dev activity is rare to non-existent on these forums, similarly so to the old-forums. Even Sema, where this forum is their brainchild, is gone. StyLiS has mostly cut their losses with these forums, and moved on.

    • FN FAL vs M14 (Cold War Arms EP. 1)

      Salutations faces old and new!
This is ILIEKTRAINZ from the old Discourse, and this is going to be a restructure of one of my most labor intensive posts on the forum. I intend to turn this into a series in due time.

      Disclaimer

      Keep in mind
That for any armament, accuracy and reliability are a result of quality of manufacture, field conditions, munitions used as well as the amount of maintenance performed to an armament rather than what can be inherently attributed to the action used.

With that out of the way, enjoy !

      FN FAL vs M14

      Similarites

-Both utilize the 7.62x51mm NATO round.
-Both are heavy at around 11 pounds, give or take.
-Both can fire in semi-auto and Full-auto fire modes

      Differences

The M14 utilizes a rotating bolt design, while the FAL utilizes a tilting (coined tipping as well) breech block design.

      Rotating bolt

      Pros of this bolt
-Supplementary loading from stripper clips is possible.
-Is very easy to clean and maintain

      Cons of this bolt
-Debris is able to make its way into the action much more effectively.
-Shell casings have an in determined route when ejected from the rifle.
-Costs much more to produce than the latter system.
      Extra fact
-The rotating bolt in other gun designs make the gun lighter*

      Tipping bolt

      Pros of this bolt
-The bolt is much easier to manufacture.
      -Costs less to manufacture
-On the FAL, this has a determined route for brass ejection.
      Cons of this bolt
While certain weapons that utilize this design (The sks) can use stripper clips, the FAL cannot.

      Other cons for the M14

-The M14 is fairly unwieldy in full-auto mode, while the Fal is SLIGHTLY less so.
-The Fal can be made, NOT converted to left hand priming and ejection. The M14, has not, and most likely will not be.
-The FAL is much more durable in terms of jamming due to the amount of shots fired, not external conditions**.

      Other cons for the FAL

-A civilian grade bull-barreled FN FAL L1A1 is less accurate than a civilian grade Springfield M1A rifle (assuming you use off the shelf “okay” munitions).
Even then, there are military variants of the M14 that are much more accurate than both.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

      Footnotes

*The rotating bolt design can lock directly to the barrel as opposed to locking to the receiver, reducing the strength needed for the receiver, thus making the gun lighter.
The M14 and M1 Garand never utilized this, as the bolt locks directly to the receiver, making them much heavier rifles.
**This said, the M14 is still easier to clean.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, but mostly gentlemen. To the feels megathread. This is the feels megathread, a continuation of a thread we had in the old forums, one that was quite popular at that. So I'll give you the rundown if you're new here..."

      ~Hellcat5

New year, new forum. Though I'm unsure if anybody expected either would unfold in this manner.
For better, or for worse, we are here right now; nothing can change the past, but we can create our future.

Look, I'll keep this brief. I've been around here for well over four years, and it never ceases to amaze me how much this community has grown and prospered in that time.

Here, in the Feels Megathread, hold no restraint.
Your mistakes, your woes, your emotions, let them flow. You are safe here. You are accepted.

What is listing definitions going to do about stopping any of this "proliferation", as you so put it?

I ask not out of spite or malice, but out of sheer confusion as to what prompted this.

Not to mention that, while not nearly exhaustive as all these definitions are, the StyLiS rules in general cover most bases more effectively when it comes to "toxicity"

    • RE: [Game] True or False

      @steamed_ham32 kinda depends?

The AS VAL is pretty good in 1v1s and even all the way up to 1v4s if you play your cards right. It's really best used as a guerilla "hit and run" gun if anything else, with the ability to branch out to a more generalized role if need be. So yeah, I do believe the AS VAL excels within the ARs for this reason.

That said, I personally do better with the AK-47, as it's just able to deliver alot of hurt, over a long period of time, which the VAL and other high ROF guns can't do.

Anyways, person below realizes how stupidly broken Jury Birdshot is.

      Mardemon1

Wait, the AKM and AK 47 have damage differences? Now that's not very kosher of you!

To be fair, it is a good way to get the attention of devs by replying to their recentmost post.

That said, yeah, I can see why it's somewhat bothersome that you're getting feedback for something you're not looking for, despite how valid it is...

Anyways, onto my critique and opinions.

M1911 front part / iron sights no longer go away with sights equipped.

Years Mar. Countless years have I waited for this, and now? My waiting has finally concluded. It is real fudd hours now ladies and gents.

      M1911 range0 increased to 55 (from 35).

      Fudd Hours Intensifies

      M45A1 range0 increased to 50 (from 30).

Justifiable, considering the aforementioned M1911 range buff.

      Sionics Suppressor stats redone.

Overall, nice! I think the Sionics still had a place, albeit a wee bit overshadowed by other muzzle attachments for the Mac-10, but now it's great!

Aug A3 compensators no longer hardsets recoil values.

      Wait, it did that?

      FAL changes

Off to Rhodesia, to fight in the bushes

      WA 2000 mumbo

Honestly wish I could give something constructive, but I don't even have the gun yet, let along the .300 WinMag conversion!

      All in all?

      Nice.
