I've been known to be that guy who's really toxic, but right now.l, I want to talk about the relationship between staff and players in Phantom Forces, and just how much we fuck the developer's heads.
I can understand the stress that comes with game development first hand, and I know how hard it can be to get help with a game you've been working on for a while - if you seek help, a method might not work for you since it uses some other mechanic you don't know.
This might be why StyLIS cannot implement an anticheat - well, that and the motivation. Phantom Forces has been around for half a decade and you can only work so hard so far.
Is it really motivating for stylis when we scream "WE WANT THE XYZ gun!!" Or "WHERES THE EQUIPMENT?!" Or even "SMOKE GRENADE!!"
Like... We can't say it's because ROBLOX is toxic, because there isn't an excuse for toxic behaviour. to have us angry every time stylis fucks up... It's why only a few developers talk here. It's why they don't want to give good mechanics - we're toxic assholes.
Why would stylis want to tell the truth about their game when we don't want to hear it? I've seen the code for phantom forces back when I used to play with the code, (I didn't release any games with stolen assets, I promise) and although removing guns is easy, it's hard to implement other mechanics due to the nature of the games code. It would be hard adding things like medkits, and if it were to break, a rewrite would be necessary
So why not rewrite the game?
Because then you'd have to tailor it to the guns that work with the game currently. Each gun has 100-200 lines of code to it
Copy other code over?
Looking through the code and figuring out which variables are set would be a pain in the ass and a half
Have other people help code?
Run the risk of code being stolen
To conclude, although the Devs have not done many things we want lately, we have not really treated them with respect.
