    Overview

The Steyr Scout is an Austrian bolt action sniper rifle chambered in smaller rounds like .376 Steyr (ingame) and 5.56x45mm NATO (conversion ingame).
It is unlocked at Rank 195!

This sniper is somewhat the skill tester, it is like school, you get teached how snipers work, you are required to learn how to properly headshot and the moment you unlock/buy the Steyr Scout, your exams begin, depending on how well you use the Steyr Scout is how well your grade will be.

It deals a very low 45 -> 35 damage, meaning you will need to require 3 hits to kill, it also has a x1.1 torso multiplier which unfortunately makes no difference.
It has a higher x4.0 headshot multiplier which will guarantee instant headshot kills at any range!
It has a relatively good 2700 studs/s muzzle velocity but poor penetration and suppression.

What makes up for this horrible damage value? The fire rate.
It may still need to rechamber after every shot but it has the highest fire rate of all the bolt actions at 85 RPM, surpassing even some semi automatic snipers like the M107!
Combine with the S. Bolt Pull and a good scope to make this sniper rifle feel like a semi automatic with a fast fire rate, do note that the S. Bolt Pull decreases fire rate overall a bit.
If you can hit your headshots with this RPM, this will be an amazing sniper for you!

It feeds from 8 round magazines also having a large 64 ammo reserve.
Reloading takes 3.1 seconds or 4.8 seconds if empty, which isn't too bad, try to avoid empty reloads though.

The Steyr Scout is a fairly lightweight sniper, allowing you to move quickly and aim quickly, shoot and get out of your position fast before you are caught!
Recoil wise, the Steyr Scout litteraly barely has any recoil, when firing you won't notice much recoil at all making the S. Bolt Pull strategy very handy and recoil improving attachments are absolutely not needed!

The default iron sights are alright but not the best, it is advised to grind for a scope!

    5.56 Conv.

Replaces the ammo used in your Steyr Scout by 5.56x45mm NATO acting like a less powered extended magazine!

(+) Increased magazine capacity to 10!
(+) Increased ammo reserve to 120!
    (+) Doubled maximum range!
    (-) Decreased damage to 35 -> 25!
    (-) Decreased muzzle velocity to 2500 studs/s!
    (-) Halved penetration!

Massive increase in ammo reserve and an extended magazine, making it almost impossible to run out of ammo especially how common 5.56x45mm NATO guns can be found to refill ammo!
But bodyshotting, muzzle velocity and penetration becomes worse

    Attachments

The Steyr Scout has a few unique attachments, the only ones being the Long Barrel, Short Barrel, S. Bolt Pull and 5.56 Conv.!

    • Since this weapon is a sniper rifle, it has access to the scopes of other snipers in optics for 5000 kills!

If you want a loadout, I recommend you this:

    • Leupold M8-6X / Any sniper scope
    • Long Barrel
    • Skeleton Grip
    • S. Bolt Pull
    • Default

    Trivia

    • It used to be chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO by default also using 10 round magazines.
    • This and the Dragunov SVDS are the only sniper rifles without a default or free scope, forcing you to grind for one.
    • Combining the 5.56 Conv. and suppressors that reduce minimum damage will remove your ability to one shot headshot at long range.

    My opinion on this gun

    Quite a different sniper rifle.
Horrible to body shotters, godly to headshotters.

Use a S. Bolt Pull and a high magnification scope and it will act like a fast semi auto sniper.

The rating got me thinking of this weapon, skill is really required to make this from a horrible weapon to an amazing weapon.
If you can master this weapon hitting only headshots, it is one of the best snipers in the game.

Therefore with the needed skill cap and lack of other features such as a strong torso multiplier, I will rate this gun a 9/10!

The Leupold M6-X Scope is free to use on this gun!

Darkman_Bree You should add that the Leopold M8-6X requires 1500 kills which is unique
